“We are excited to get this championship going and to keep having fun together each day out. The guys have had a few nice days of prep out here on the West Coast, and they are ready to get started. Last week, we did a great job of being elite in how quickly we respond to adversity or sudden change, and we have to do that again this week. Our goal is to continue to stay light, be grateful, and embrace each day and each moment together.
“This is a championship course that will test every aspect of your game. The guys who play well here value their ball and commit to a plan. I want our guys to stay positive and control the things we can control because it’s a long week, and patience will be key because you can go on a run on this course.”

Vanderbilt at the NCAA Championship
This marks the 15th appearance for the Commodores at an NCAA Men’s Golf Championship event. It is Vandy’s 12th-straight season competing at the NCAA Championship.
The Commodores have won stroke play at the NCAA Championship in 2017 and 2022. Vanderbilt has appeared in match play a total of six times. The Dores have advanced to the semifinals in 2017, 2019 and 2022.
Senior Gordon Sargent won the individual national championship as a freshman at the 2022 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship, finishing at even par 280. He is the lone Commodore to win the NCAA men’s golf individual national title.
Last Time Out
Vanderbilt won the 2026 NCAA Athens Regional to advance to the NCAA Men’s Golf Championship. The Dores posted a three-round total of 6-under 834 to finish in second place. Senior Jackson Van Paris captured individual medalist honors with a career-low score of 8-under 202.
Van Paris becomes the second Commodore in school history to win an NCAA Regional event, as he joins William Moll, who captured first place at last year’s NCAA West Lafayette Regional. The senior carded a career-low three-round score of 8-under 202. It is the second-lowest 54-hole score a Vanderbilt golfer has posted at an NCAA Regional, behind Jon Curran’s 201 (-15) 54-hole total at the 2007 NCAA West Regional at Arizona State.
