SERIES PREVIEW: Vanderbilt and Kentucky will meet for three games at Hawkins Field beginning Friday.

  • The first two games will be on SECN+ and Game 3 on Sunday will air on SEC Network with Derek Jones and Lance Cormier on the call.
  • Vanderbilt sits in second in the SEC East, a half-game back of first-place South Carolina. Kentucky is tied for third, two games behind Vanderbilt.
  • Vandy leads the all-time series vs. Kentucky with a 152-150-5 mark. The Dores are 10-2 against the Wildcats in the regular season since 2018.

LAST TIME OUT: Vanderbilt enters the weekend looking to snap a four-game losing streak.

  • The Commodores fell to Indiana State last Tuesday night and dropped all three games at Tennessee over the weekend.
  • Vanderbilt lost on a walk-off homer in the 12th inning Friday in Knoxville.
  • Vanderbilt rallied late in Sunday’s finale but came up short, losing 10-5.

  • In SEC games, Vandy is first in the league in nearly every major offensive category. The Dores rank third in fielding, fifth in ERA and second in opposing batting average.
  • RJ Schreck ranks third in batting average (.412) and RBIs (30). Enrique Bradfield Jr. has scored the second-most runs (26) and leads the league with 11 stolen bases in SEC play.

SUPERB SOUTHPAWS: Left-handed pitchers Carter Holton, Hunter Owen and Devin Futrell have anchored the weekend starting rotation this season.

  • Combined, the trio owns a 2.99 ERA with 147 strikeouts over 141.1 innings.
  • In SEC action, Futrell leads the conference with a 2.34 ERA and has allowed just four walks, also tops in the league.
  • On the season, all three arms rank top-10 in the SEC in ERA. Futrell is second, Holton fifth and Owen ninth.
