NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Game 1 in the three-game series between Vanderbilt and Georgia will now begin at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Hawkins Field.

The Commodores and Bulldogs will meet at 2 p.m. Saturday and at 1 p.m. Sunday with all three games airing on SEC Network+.

Gates will open at 3 p.m. Friday and Vanderbilt fans arriving early will receive a free throwback shirsey upon entry. Select food and drink items will be discounted for Happy Hour until first pitch.

Tickets purchased for the originally scheduled 6 p.m. first pitch remain valid for the new start time.

Game Notes

 SERIES PREVIEW: Vanderbilt hosts Georgia this weekend for a three-game series at Hawkins Field with all three games airing on SECN+. 

  • Vanderbilt enters the weekend winners of 14 of its last 15 games. 
  • Vandy has won seven consecutive contests and is 6-0 to begin SEC play for the first time since 1972. 
  • Vanderbilt and Georgia will be meeting for the 245th time with the Commodores trailing the series 120-124. The two sides first faced off in 1897. 
  • Vanderbilt took two of three from Georgia in the series last season in Athens, but the Bulldogs took two of three last time the teams met at Hawkins Field in 2021. 

LAST TIME OUT: Vanderbilt swept Mississippi State in Starkville, Mississippi, outscoring the Bulldogs 55-15 over the three games. 

  • Vanderbilt scored 26 runs in Friday’s contest, a school record for a road game. 
  • Parker Noland hit two grand slams in Friday’s game and totaled a school-record 11 RBIs. He finished the weekend with 14 RBIs and was named SEC Co-Player of the Week. 
  • The Dores are now 6-0 in conference play for the first time since 1972 with sweeps over 2022 national champion Ole Miss and 2021 national champion Mississippi State. 

SUPERB SOUTHPAWS: Left-handed pitchers Carter Holton, Hunter Owen and Devin Futrell have anchored the weekend starting rotation this season. 

  • Combined, the trio owns a 2.92 ERA with 95 strikeouts over 92.1 innings. 
  • Holton is 3-0 with a 2.59 ERA and 35 Ks. Owen is 3-0 with a 2.78 ERA and 40 Ks and Futrell is 4-1 with a 3.55 ERA and 20 Ks. 

A LEAGUE OF HIS OWN: Enrique Bradfield Jr. stole his 97th career base vs. UCLA (Feb. 26) to break the program record set by Charles DeFrance (1980-82). 

  • Bradfield leads all active players in NCAA baseball (I, II and III) with 111 career stolen bases. 
  • The junior outfielder’s 111 career stolen bases ranks sixth in SEC history. Tennessee’s Mike Basse (1989-91) holds the all-time record of 145. South Carolina’s Mike Curry is fifth at 122. 
  • Bradfield stole 46 or more bases in each of his first two seasons. He was 46-for-46 in 2022 after going 47-53 as a freshman in 2021. 

AT THE PLATE: Vandy has scored double-digit runs in four straight games. The Dores average 8.4 runs per game in 2023. 

  • Graduate RJ Schreck leads the team in slugging (.674), OBP (.467), RBI (27), triples (2), home runs (7) and hits (31). 
  • Davis Diaz has reached base safely in 18 consecutive games. He’s one of five Dores to have reached safely in each of Vandy’s last 14 contests. 
  • Freshman Chris Maldonado leads the team in doubles (9) and batting average (.351). 12 of his 20 hits on the season have gone for extra bases.
