NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt will be hoping to create some momentum toward the postseason in its final event of the regular season this week.

The Commodores will join 13 other teams at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic in a two-day tournament that will have competitors play 36 holes Tuesday and 18 holes Wednesday at the University Club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

On the par-72, 6,350-yard course, Auston Kim, Celina Sattelkau, Tess Davenport, Morgan Baxendale and Louise Yu will all tee off at 8:30 a.m. both Tuesday and Wednesday. Kim is fresh off an appearance at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur where she finished tied for 25th.

“This is obviously our last tune up before SECs and NCAAs. I love playing golf in April and May and I’m looking forward to watching all our hard work come together,” Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen said. “This is a tough golf course that will require a lot of patience around the greens. We haven’t seen fairways this firm and fast in months. And we will need to be very precise in some tee shots and approach shots this week as there’s a lot of trouble.

“I’m really hoping we show a lot of mental toughness and that we’re ready to fight hard.”

Vanderbilt, which finished 10th at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic last month, will have a short turnaround after this week’s tournament with the SEC Championship scheduled to start April 14 in Birmingham, Alabama.

Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia, Florida, Florida State, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Pepperdine, Tennessee, Texas A&M and host LSU will join Vandy in the tournament field.
