The latest buzz on the web surrounding the Vanderbilt Commodores:

D1Baseball.com: Aaron Fitt of D1Baseball.com visits Vanderbilt baseball during fall ball and assesses the Commodores as they head into 2018. “Vanderbilt returns a strong core of juniors who have embraced leadership roles,” Fitt writes, “and the additions of former Vandy players Mike Baxter and David Macias have made a big difference, too.”

The Tennessean: Joe Rexrode takes a deep dive into former Vanderbilt pitcher (and current Boston Red Sox pitcher) David Price and his remaining connection to middle Tennessee. The column also touches on the strong relationshp between Price and Vanderbilt baseball coach Tim Corbin.

VUCommodores.com: Vanderbilt soccer topped Auburn, 2-1, on Senior Night on Thursday, securing the No. 4 seed in the SEC Tournament and a first-round bye for the Commodores. Vanderbilt finished the regular season 11-6-1 overall record and 6-3-1 in conference play, the program’s most SEC wins since 2006.

Twitter: Members of Vanderbilt’s soccer team enjoyed a treat earlier this week in attending a Women in Soccer panel in Nashville. The Commodores had a chance to meet a former U.S. Women’s National Team member in Ali Krieger.

Charleston Post and Courier: Running back Ralph Webb has cemented himself as the all-time rushing leader in Vanderbilt history. But Webb has yet to find much success in career matchups against South Carolina. The Dores and Gamecocks meet Saturday at 3 p.m. CT.

The Tennessean: Joe Rexrode writes from SEC Basketball Media Days on Vanderbilt women’s basketball, which could use a big boost from sophomore forward Kayla Overbeck this season. “She can make a big jump,” head coach Stephanie White said of Overbeck.

VUCommodores.com: Vanderbilt tennis senior Daniel Valent defeated (2) Timo Stodder of Tennessee 6-1, 6-1 in the finals of the ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships this week to win the tournament title. Valent became the first Commodore to clinch the event since current assistant coach Ryan Lipman accomplished the feat in 2013.

VUCommodores.com: Vanderbilt bowling opens its season on Friday as the program travels to Fairview Heights, Ill., for McKendree University’s Brunswick Bearcat Open, played Friday through Sunday on the St. Clair Bowl lanes.
