The Vanderbilt track and field team is set to return to competition at the Meyo Invitational this weekend at the University of Notre Dame. The meet will begin on Friday, Feb. 3 and conclude on Saturday, Feb. 4.
The first event on Friday will be the women’s long jump, which will start at 2:30 p.m. (CT). Saturday’s portion of the event will begin at 9:45 a.m. with the women’s 60-meter hurdle prelims.
The Meyo Invitational will be the first away meet of the season for the Commodores and will be the team’s first meet since the Vanderbilt Invitational on Jan. 20-21. The Commodores picked up several strong performances in that meet, including personal-best times and top-10 finishes in the 800-meter run from Jenn Edobi (2:09.16) and Reagan Bustamante (2:11.74), who finished sixth and 10th, respectively.
Quoting Head Coach Steve Keith:
On the team’s first away meet of the season:
“It’s good to get on the road after a couple of home meets. Traveling and competing together on the road always brings the team together. I know we’re excited to get back in the mix after an off weekend.”
On getting to compete against the Meyo Invitational field:
“A lot of new teams that we’ll be seeing for the first time this season are in the field this weekend, and it is always good to see different teams and programs. This is an exceptionally high-level meet and will offer our team all of the competitive opportunities we need as we start the second half of the indoor season.”
The meet will also be streamed live on WatchESPN from 1-3 p.m. (CT) on Saturday.
