Track competes at Colonial Relays

The Vanderbilt Commodores head to the 47th Annual William & Mary Colonial Relays for the weekend, where the women’s track program will compete Friday and Saturday.

The competition will be steep at the event. Among the competitors in this weekend’s meet will be Olympic hopefuls, looking to qualify for the London Games. There are 61 athletes and relays entered at or above existing stadium and Colonial Relays records.

Meagan Martin and Morgan Toone will once again take to the pole vault competition. Toone set a new school record last weekend at the Yellow Jacket Invitational with a height of 12-09.50.

Ellie Tidman and Brionne Williams will compete in the high jump on Friday in the other jumps event that the Commodores take part in.

On the track side of things, Hannah Jumper will start off with the 800m, while Kristen Findley, Alexa Rogers, Kara Slavoski, and Jordan White take to the 1500m. Amira Joseph and Allie Scalf will tackle the Steeplechase, while Claire Benjamin, Grace Orders and Kristen Smith wrap up the events on Friday with the 5000m, set to start at 7:15 p.m. ET (6:15 CT).

Events resume on Saturday with Becca Chandler running the 3000m and Alyson Hasty competing in the unseeded pole vault. The teams will wrap up with the 4×1500 relay at 3:20 p.m. ET.

Thirty-two teams are registered to compete in the Colonial Relays, including: Bucknell, Christopher Newport, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, Delaware, District of Columbia, Duquesne, Fairleigh Dickinson, Fordham, George Mason, Georgetown, Hampton, Harvard, James Madison, Loyola (Md.), Maryland, Mount St. Mary’s, Pittsburgh, Richmond, Rider, Robert Morris, Rutgers, Shenandoah, St. Francis (N.Y.), St. Francis (Pa.), St. Joseph’s, Vanderbilt, Villanova, Virginia, Virginia State, Virginia Tech, Virginia Wesleyan, William and Mary.
