VU almost perfect at ITA Regional

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team got off to a strong start in the first day of main draw competition at the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional as the team went 4-1 in singles play and 3-0 in the doubles draw.

Jackie Wu, Chelsea Preeg, Rachael Dillon and Lauren Mira all claimed wins in the first round of the main draw and advanced to the round of 32 on Friday. Nelly Radeva fell in three sets to Kate Chybowski of Evansville in her first round match, but will play in the consolation draw on Friday.

The Commodores were perfect in first round doubles matches on Thursday. Mira and Preeg defeated Andra Voinea and Giulia Anderazza of Eastern Tennessee State, 8-3, while Wu and Dillon topped Chybowski and Dora Kotsiou of Evansville by the same score. Erica Robertson and Leatu picked up an 8-4 win over Xavier’s Kelsey Kinnard and Tifanie Treece.
