NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Sophomore Celia-Belle Mohr has been named a Singles All-American after finishing at No. 19 in the rankings, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced Monday.
The ITA honors student-athletes who earn a top 16 seed in the NCAA singles DI women’s tennis championship, advance to the round of 16 or finish in the top 20 of the final ITA Singles Rankings.
In the NCAA singles championship, Mohr defeated No. 18 Janice Tjen in a three-set tiebreaker match to advance to the round of 32. Mohr would then take on a familiar face in Auburn’s No. 27 Ariana Arseneault, but after a weather delay and a transition indoors, Mohr fell in two sets to end her run at the singles championship.
Playing primarily in the No. 1 position in singles, Mohr was a foundational part of Vanderbilt’s success this season. Mohr defeated 12 nationally ranked opponents, including Texas A&M’s No. 2 Mary Stoiana. For the first time in her career, Mohr was named a First Team All-SEC member. She joins Vanderbilt’s all-time leaderboard with 31 singles wins this year.
