NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Two members of the Vanderbilt women’s tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association Ohio Valley Regional awards. Celia-Belle Mohr adds to her season successes with the ITA Rookie of the Year, and Anna Ross ends her career as a Commodore with the Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award.
The ITA awards a first-year student-athlete, like Mohr, who has made significant contributions to their team in terms of leadership, sportsmanship and performance. Mohr played in the No. 1 position in singles all season and ended in the top 20 of the final ITA Singles Rankings, earning her first All-American title. Along with these accolades, Mohr is also a First Team All-SEC member and ranks among the top 10 in Vanderbilt’s history, with 31 singles wins in one season.
The Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award is awarded to an athlete who displays inspiring dedication and commitment to her team. Playing primarily in the No. 2 position in singles, Ross continued to showcase her leadership that she established when she was a freshman. This season, Ross recorded one singles win and one doubles win over a nationally ranked opponent. Ross also earned a spot on the CSC Academic All-District team.
