Kris Yee, from Odyssey Charter School in Las Vegas, N.V., signed his national letter of intent to play at Vanderbilt University.
“Depending on where you look, he’s either the third recruit in the country or the tenth,” said head coach Ian Duvenhage. “We’re really impressed with him as a player and as a person, and we’re really excited that he’s going to be part of the program.”
Yee was last ranked No. 3 on tennisrecruiting.net, and boasts a 67-19 record. His proven ability to win will be a key asset to the team in the 2012-2013 season. Showing few weaknesses, Yee possesses a deadly serve and equally good backhand and forehand.
“I think his greatest strength is that he has no weaknesses,” said assistant coach Jamie Hunt.
The high school senior will be a strong addition to both the courts and the classroom; he won the Arthur Ashe Essay Contest this past year, and was flown up to New York City for the US Open.
