Men's netters wrap up play at Bulldog Scramble

ATHENS, Ga. – Vanderbilt’s men’s tennis team concluded play at the Bulldog Scramble on Sunday by winning three of four singles matches.

In three days at the event hosted by Georgia, the Commodores posted 12 wins, seven of which came in singles play. Also competing at the event were individuals from Georgia, Georgia Tech and Clemson.

A day after going 4-0 in doubles play, the Commodores had their strongest singles performance in the three days on Sunday. Posting wins on Sunday were Bryant Salcedo, Vijay Paul and Charlie Jones. For the event, Salcedo and Jones led the Commodores with 3-1 records in singles play.

On Friday, the event had each player play two singles matches and a doubles match. On Saturday, each player played two doubles matches and one singles match. Sunday’s final day consisted only of one singles match for each individual.

Vanderbilt will return to the court Oct. 22-26 when the Commodores travel to Bloomington, Ind., to play in the ITA Regional Championships.
