Home-coming for Vandy

Vanderbilt women scheduled to play first home match on Saturday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team will compete in its first home match of the season on Saturday against Memphis.

No. 22 Vanderbilt competed at the ITA Kickoff this past weekend in Knoxville, Tennessee, where they split their two matches against Tennessee and Miami (Fla.). The Commodores barely came up short against No. 19 Tennessee, grabbing the doubles point but then falling behind in singles with the Volunteers closing out the match 4-3. Against the Hurricanes, Vanderbilt struck first, clinching the doubles point and swiftly claiming the victory 4-0.

Memphis is off to a 3-1 start this spring, beginning the season with a win against Hawaii and adding to its most recent record with two consecutive victories over Ole Miss and Tulsa. The Tigers competed last weekend at home against the Golden Hurricanes, posting a 4-1 victory.
