CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team concluded the Miami Spring Invite with three victories Monday at the Neill Schiff Tennis Center.
The Commodores opened the day battling in doubles against Northwestern.
Senior Emma Kurtz and freshman Anna Ross overpowered Clarissa Hand and Inci Ogut 6-2 while freshman Dasha Kourkina and junior Amanda Meyer secured their second consecutive doubles victory of the invite with a 6-4 win over Briana Crowley and Carolina Pozo.
In singles play, the Commdores fell short on six courts with freshman Marcella Cruz picking up the Dores lone singles victory of the day.
Taking on Miami’s Nada Dimovska, Cruz fell short in the first set 6-3. In the second set, the freshman bounced back to down Dimovska, 6-3. In the final set, Cruz cruised to a 1-0 (4) victory.
Vanderbilt will return to action Friday to make their 2020 home debut by hosting the ITA Kick Off.
Admission to Friday and Saturday’s matches is free.
