The Commodore Invitational concluded on Saturday and Vanderbilt track and field delivered several strong performances throughout the day.

Junior Jenn Edobi won the 400m dash for the Commodores and set a new Commodore Invitational meet record with a time of 53.99 seconds. Edobi’s performance was just one of many impressive marks earned by Vanderbilt athletes on the second and concluding day of the Commodore Invitational. Senior Simone Charley also won her event by recording a mark of 43″ 1″ in the triple jump, a mark that ranks second in meet history.

Senior Courtney Clayton, coming off a first-place finish in the Vanderbilt Indoor Opener, enjoyed another strong performance on Saturday with a new personal-best mark in the mile run with a time of 4:47.67. That time was good for fifth overall and placed her seventh all-time on Vanderbilt’s performance list for the event. Senior Birdie Hutton, who was competing in her first meet as a Commodore after transferring from Princeton, also had a strong performance in the mile run after winning her heat and placing 12th overall with a time of 5:02.39.

Hutton’s younger sister Ginger competed in the 800m run for Vanderbilt and finished ninth with a time of 2:13.52, just behind fellow Commodore Regan Bustamante, who recorded a time of 2:12.70 and finished eighth. Also competing in the 800m run for the Commodores was the trio of Lydia Witty (2:14.06), Skyler Carpenter (2:14.39) and Maddie Criscione (2:14.94), who finished 12th through 14th, respectively. Sarah Goodale also competed in the 800m and placed 23rd with a time of 2:19.98

Goodale recorded a leap of 5′ 3.25″ in the high jump. Goodale has now competed in five different events for the Commodores, having also already competed in the 60m Hurdles, shot put and long jump this season.

With three Commodore runners placing in the top-10, the 3000m run proved to be one of Vanderbilt’s strongest events of the day. Senior Carmen Carlos (5th; 9:40.36), Junior Megan Huebner (9th; 9:50.65) and Mailin Struck (10th; 9:53.35) all delivered top-10 performances for the Commodores in the 52-runner field.

The meet concluded with Western Kentucky’s men’s team setting a new meet record in the 4×400 relay with a time of 3:09.17
