Athens, Ga. – The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team concluded action at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Monday. The doubles team of Ryan Lipman and Gonzales Austin went 1-1 on the day, with a loss in the finals to a tough UGA squad.
The duo opened the day with a win in the semifinals over Diego Nunez and Rogerio Ribeiro, 8-1. They then had to wait on a UGA/ETSU semifinal match to determine the finals pairing.
With the win, the Georgia team of Hernus Pieters and Ben Wagland advanced to the finals to take on Austin and LIpman.
After getting out to an early 2-0 lead, Lipman and Austin fell by a score of 8-4 to Pieters/Wagland.
Georgia swept the Division I singles and doubles finals.
The Vanderbilt men will next be in action when they host the SEC Fall Classic, from September 19-22.
