NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt outdoor track and field is in full swing with a pair of meets this week. The Commodores will split between the Raleigh Relays at N.C. State and the Bulldog Relays at Mississippi State.
The three-day meet in Raleigh will begin Thursday and feature many of the Commodore distance runners. The first day concludes with the women’s 10,000 meters at 8:30 p.m., while Friday begins at 10 a.m. and concludes with the men’s 10,000 meters at 8:15 p.m. Saturday starts at 11 a.m. and will finish with the 4×400 relay at 6:10 p.m.
In Starkville, the meet will begin Friday at 10 a.m. and continue through the 5,000 meters at 7:30 p.m. Saturday will start at 11 a.m. with the shot put and conclude with the 4×400 relay at 4:25 p.m.
Last weekend, a trio of school records highlighted the season-opening Tiger Classic in Auburn, Alabama. Freshman Haley Bishop set a new school standard in the women’s 100 meters, while Matthew Estopinal did so in the men’s 3,000 meters, in addition to the women’s record-setting 4×100 relay team. In all, Vanderbilt posted three school record times and four other all-time top-10 program performances.
Bishop ranks 11th in the region in the 100 and 200 meters, while Fuller is 15th in the 100 meters, and the 4×100 relay ranks ninth in the East and 18th in the nation. Junior Grace Jensen is among the top 20 in the NCAA in the 800 and 1,500 meters.
Vanderbilt will head to the Tennessee Relays and the Miami Invite, April 9-10, before hosting the annual Black and Gold Invitational on April 16-17.
