Dores weekend in Arkansas and return Sunday

Vanderbilt to face Hogs on Friday, Alabama on Sunday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team travels to Fayetteville on Friday to face the Razorbacks, ranked 45th, and will return home on Sunday to take on No. 21 Alabama.

Last weekend the Commodores played at home, facing No. 5 Kentucky on Friday afternoon. After slipping up in doubles, the Dores fell to the Wildcats and posted a 6-1 loss.

In the updated ITA rankings, the Commodores came in at No. 52, with freshman Danil Panarin ranked 57 in singles.

Arkansas
The Razorbacks (12-4) are coming off a doubleheader where they competed against No. 9 Tennessee and Tennessee Tech, on Sunday. The Hogs split their matches, losing 4-1 to the Vols and then picking up a win against Tennessee Tech, posting a 4-0 score. In this week’s ITA rankings, the tandem of Melvin Manuel and Jared Horwood are ranked 63rd.

Alabama
Alabama, ranked 21st, posts a 10-6 record for the season and is 0-1 in conference play. Last weekend saw the Tide take on Kentucky on Sunday, dropping their match to the Wildcats with a 5-2 loss. In doubles, Alabama’s duo of Filip Planinsek and Andrii Zimnokh are ranked 74th, with Planinsek also ranked No. 46 in singles, alongside Enzo Aguiard at No. 69.

Home Match Notes
Because of construction around Vanderbilt athletic facilities, all outdoor competitions for the spring 2024 season will be played at the Ensworth Tennis Center, about 20 minutes from campus at 7405 TN-100, Nashville, Tenn. 37221. In case of rain, matches will be moved indoors to the Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Tennis Pavilion at the Lummis Family Tennis Center, and admission is free. Free parking is available in the 25th Avenue Garage through the Highland Avenue entrance. Vanderbilt tennis matches will enforce a clear bag policy.
