Dores trek to Lexington

Vanderbilt continues road trip on Sunday to face Kentucky

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s tennis travels to Lexington this weekend to face No. 52 Kentucky on Sunday at 11 a.m.

The Commodores spent this past weekend on the road, competing against No. 15 Alabama and No. 12 Auburn. Friday saw the Dores fall in Tuscaloosa, after dropping the doubles point. Vanderbilt fought for three points, but was overcome by the Tide, 4-3. Vanderbilt faced Auburn on Sunday and fell to the Tigers, posting another 4-3 loss.

In the updated ITA rankings this week, the Commodores came in at No. 33, with two student athletes ranked in singles as well as two doubles duos. Both Célia-Belle Mohr and Bridget Stammel were featured in singles, Mohr at No. 9 and Stammel ranked 60th. Mohr and Anessa Lee are ranked 26th in doubles, and the tandem of Valeria Ray and Holly Staff are 69th.

Kentucky
The Wildcats (6-5) are 0-2 in conference play after facing Auburn on Friday and Alabama on Sunday and dropping both matches. Two of Kentucky’s duos are ranked in doubles; Elizabeth Stevens and Makayla Mills are 50th while Lidia Gonzalez and Elizabeth Eades are just under Vanderbilt’s Staff/Ray at No. 70.
