Dores Set to Host Weekend Tournament

Commodores welcome four schools to the Currey Tennis Center

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team is set to host its annual June Stewart Invitational this weekend at the Currey Tennis Center.

The Commodores will welcome Miami, Iowa State, Kentucky, and Illinois to Nashville for the annual event starting Friday and running through Sunday. The Invitational will open at 10:30 a.m. Friday with the Commodores competing at 2 p.m.

A full competition schedule for the weekend is below.

The Dores enter this year’s June Stewart Invitational following the season-opening Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic where they had a combined 16 match victories. Dasha Kourkina, Marcella Cruz and MaryAnn Rompf all earned wins for the Dores on the final day of competition. Sophomore Aneesa Lee reached the finals of her flight with a pair of victories and, in doubles play, the duo of Holly Staff and Cruz earned bronze in Flight 3 Doubles while the duo of Lee and Yufei Long won a pair of matches in the consolation bracket.

Following the June Stewart Invitational, the Commodores will compete at the ITA Regional Championships in Murfreesboro on Oct. 21-25.

9 a.m. — Miami/ISU vs. Illinois singles
11 a.m. — Doubles Vanderbilt vs. Miami/Iowa State and Illinois vs. Kentucky
