Dores Open SEC Play

Vanderbilt faces LSU in first conference match

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s tennis team will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to face LSU in its first SEC match of the season Friday at the LSU Tennis Complex. The Commodores will return home to host Texas A&M on Sunday at the Currey Tennis Center.

Vandy enters conference play sporting a 6-3 record and are 5-1 at home.

In their last time out, the Dores fell short to Northwestern in Evanston, Illinois, 7-0.

Junior George Harwell will lead the Commodores into SEC play at No. 1 in the lineup. Harwell boasts an 8-1 dual match record and is undefeated at home.

On Friday, Vanderbilt will face an 8-2 LSU team. The Tigers enter Friday’s match with a 6-1 record at home and recently defeated Rice 4-1 on the road.

In the last match up between the two squads, the Commodores outlasted the Tigers 5-2 in Nashville.

On Sunday, Vanderbilt will welcome Texas A&M for their home SEC debut. The Aggies hold a 7-3 record and sport a 1-1 mark on the road.

Last season, the Dores dropped a close 4-3 battle to the Aggies in College Station, Texas.
