Dores Begin Homestand with Doubleheader

Vanderbilt plays at home Sunday against Belmont/Butler

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt men’s tennis returns home with a pair of matches at the Lummis Family Tennis Center this weekend. On Sunday, the Commodores face Belmont at 11 a.m. and Butler at 3:30 p.m.

Last weekend at the ITA Kickoff, the Dores split their two matches against No. 1 Ohio State and Oregon. In the first match, Vanderbilt was at a disadvantage after dropping the doubles point and after a valiant effort, they came up short against the Buckeyes. The following day Vanderbilt rallied, once again dropping the doubles point but fighting back in singles for an overall 4-2 victory over the Ducks.

Belmont
Belmont (0-0) opens their season on Saturday, Feb. 3, after a cancelled trio of weekend matches due to winter weather. Last season saw the Dores top the Bruins 6-1 during the spring matchup in February.

Butler
Butler (2-4) is coming off a loss, having competed this past weekend in Cleveland, Ohio, and falling to Cleveland State 6-1. Vanderbilt will be looking for its second consecutive win over the Bulldogs, previously posting a 4-3 victory against Butler for the 2022–23 season.
