Commodores in the Pros

Lina Granados (2012-15) // FF Lugano 1976 (Switzerland)

Granados, a 2016 graduate with a degree in engineering science, is a defender for Swiss Nationalliga A Women’s side, FF Lugano 1976.  She was the first-ever active Commodore to be called up to a World Cup side when she was named to Colombia’s side for the 2015 Women’s World Cup.  Her team finished as the runners-up in the Swiss top-flight for soccer last season.

Cheyna Williams (2012-13) // Washington Spirit (NWSL)

Williams, former SEC All-Freshman honoree and first team All-SEC, has starred for club and country since departing the West End.  She has netted eleven goals in 46 caps for the NWSL’s Washington Spirit, and just narrowly missed out on the playoffs this season, at four points below the line.  Williams was the seventh overall selection by Washington in the 2016 NWSL college draft.  This past summer, she played in two of three matches for Jamaica in the Women’s World Cup in France.

As a Commodore, she totaled an impressive 55 points in 35 games.

Simone Charley (2013-17) // Portland Thorns (NWSL)

Charley, a two-sports star in soccer and track, is an alumna with two degrees-psychology and sociology.  The epitome of a student-athlete, Charley was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll an impressive five times, with being named to the first and second All-SEC teams on the pitch.  She was named to the United States U-23 national team for the Nordic Tournament, where she netted a goal in a 2-0 win.  This year, she was picked up by the playoff-bound Portland Thorns FC, and she had two assists in her Thorns debut.
