Commodores Head to College Station

Two-day meet host by Texas A&M

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt continues its back-to-back road meets at the Charlie Thomas Invitational this weekend.

The Commodores will compete in the two-day meet starting Friday at the Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium at the McFerrin Athletic Center Bryan in College Station, Texas. Vanderbilt will be competing against Abilene Christian, Alabama, Little Rock, Baylor, Central Florida, Cincinnati, Houston, Houston Baptist, Oklahoma, Prairie View A&M, Rice, Sam Houston State, San Diego State, South Plains, Southern Methodist Stephen F. Austin, Texas Southern, Texas State, UT-Arlington, UT-San Antonio and host Texas A&M.

A total of 30 Commodores will compete across 12 different events including the women’s pentathlon, distance medley relay, long jump, 60 meters prelims, 60 meter hurdles, mile, high jump, 400 meters, 800 meters, 200 meters, 3,000 meters and the 4×400 meter relay.

Last weekend, the Vanderbilt distance runners tuned up at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational hosted by Louisville. The Commodores competed in the mile and the 3,000 meters.

Cameron FawcettElla Lambert and Julia Rosenberg raced in the women’s mile to commence the day for the Commodores. The trio notched personal bests in the event with Fawcett leading the way with a time of 4:56.11 in eighth place. 

Lambert (4:56.93) followed closely in 10th and Rosenberg (5:02.99) solidified Vandy’s top-20 finish in the mile coming in 17th overall.

Joslin Blair competed in the women’s 3,000 meter run for the first time in her collegiate career. Her time of 9:55.95 placed her fifth overall.

Nick Laning, Jonah Bird, Philip Metcalf and Zach Hodges all competed in the men’s mile with Caleb Van Geffen racing in the men’s 3,000 meters.

Vanderbilt will host one final meet of the indoor season, the Indoor Music City Challenge, on Feb. 11-12 before returning to College Station for the SEC Championships in Feb. 25-26.
