Four Dores set to compete in Women's Collegiate Classic

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Four student-athletes will travel to the West Coast to battle in the first Women’s Collegiate Classic on Thursday.

Hosted by Pepperdine in Malibu, California, the tournament will feature the top teams from around the nation.

Heading into the tournament, senior Christina Rosca leads the Dores in singles, as the nation’s 15th-ranked player claimed a strong start to the fall season by securing four singles victories.

Sophomore Georgia Drummy enters the invitational boasting a 5-1 fall record. Drummy, who joined the Commodores in January, has proven to be a key player for the Dores. The sophomore holds a 24-8 career record and tabbed her spot as the nation’s 35th-ranked player entering the fall season.

Junior Amanda Meyer (66th) and senior Emma Kurtz will also travel to California to compete. Meyer boasts a 5-1 fall tournament record and Kurtz picked up two victories to start the fall season.

“I’m hoping to be able to play well and work on techniques that I have been focusing on in practice,” said Meyer. “For me, the fall tournaments are the time to work on improving weakness, so I think this is a fantastic opportunity for match play with very good players. My play during the previous fall tournaments has been steadily improving so I’m looking forward to this weekend and the future tournaments.”
