Third consecutive regional award for new men’s tennis head coach

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its 2023 Division I Men’s Regional awards on Tuesday, naming new Vanderbilt men’s tennis head coach Scott Brown the Atlantic Regional Assistant Coach of the Year for his efforts. It marks Brown’s third straight year earning the honor.

This season, Brown aided the Cavaliers in winning their second consecutive national championship and third straight ACC title. Adding to Virginia’s 2023 success, four Cavaliers—Chris Rodesch, Iñaki Montes, Jeffrey von der Schulenburg and Ryan Goetz—received All-ACC honors before earning invitations to the NCAA Individual Championships. To round out the season accomplishments, Rodesch was named an ITA All-American in singles, while Montes and Goetz received ITA All-America honors in doubles. Goetz also earned the ITA Atlantic Regional Senior Player of the Year award.

After six seasons on the staff at Virginia, the last four as associate head coach, Brown was named head coach of the Commodore program on May 26.
