NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt baseball team wraps up its fall practice schedule with its annual Black & Gold series starting Thursday, October 21.
The team will play Thursday and Friday at 6 p.m. before taking Saturday off for the football homecoming game against South Carolina. The series will conclude on Sunday at 1 p.m. All three games are scheduled for nine innings and admission is free.
Seniors Taylor Hill and Curt Casali will captain the Gold Team while senior Mark Lamm and junior Drew Fann will lead the Black Team. The captains drafted teams on Tuesday night. Rosters for both teams are attached.
“From a coaching perspective, it gives us 27 more innings to evaluate the kids in game setting before the close of fall competition,” Head Coach Tim Corbin said. “From a player’s perspective, it allows them to play against one another in a more competitive environment.”
The Commodores split a two-game series at Texas last weekend, winning 7-2 on Friday, October 15 and losing 7-5 on Sunday, October 17. Junior Riley Reynolds paced the Dores 13-hit attack on Friday with four hits and freshman Tony Kemp led the club on Sunday with three hits from the leadoff spot. Junior pitchers Sonny Gray and Grayson Garvin each tossed three scoreless innings in their respective starts.
