Commodores release 2021 women’s tennis schedule

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Set to kick off its 2021 season in mid-January, Vanderbilt women’s tennis announced its 19-match schedule Wednesday that features multiple nonconference challenges and seven home SEC matches.

With the season set to start Jan. 17, Vanderbilt is scheduled to host Western Kentucky, Memphis, Miami and Louisville at Currey Tennis Center this season while making visits to Middle Tennessee State and Georgia Tech before the start of conference play.

In SEC action, the Dores are slated to begin the season with four home matches in a row against LSU, Texas A&M, Auburn and Alabama, respectively, while also hosting Kentucky, Tennessee and Georgia later in March. The SEC road slate features trips to Arkansas, Missouri, South Carolina, Florida, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.

This year’s SEC Tournament will be held April 19-23 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama with the NCAA Team and Individual Tournaments set for May 7-29.

The Dores return fifth-year student-athletes Emma Kurtz and Christina Rosca after their 2020 season campaigns were cut short by the COVID-19 pandemic. Rosca led Vandy with eight singles wins in 10 matches before the remainder of the season was cancelled.

With four seniors or fifth-year athletes on the roster, Vanderbilt also welcomed Holly Staff and Anessa Lee to the squad ahead of the fall season and the duo has already impressed by winning five of eight singles matches across Vanderbilt’s three fall tournaments.
