NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt senior Jackie Wu has received her draw for her final collegiate tournament, the NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Singles Championship. Wu, ranked No. 42 in the latest ITA singles poll, will face Duke’s Beatrice Capra who is the number two seed in the bracket.

The match at Georgia’s Dan Magill Tennis Complex, is set for Wednesday, May 23 at 9:00 a.m. CT. The winner will face the winner of a match between Virginia’s Lindsey Hardenbergh and Cal’s Anett Schutting.

Wu went 15-9 in dual matches this season, all at number one singles. She has won the last three matches that were played out, while having the last three suspended after a decision was made.

Capra has gone 23-2 during dual matches this season, also playing exclusively at number one singles. She is an impressive 20-4 against nationally ranked opponents. Her only loss in the last 22 matches came to an SEC opponent, Georgia’s Chelsey Gullickson in the NCAA Tournament round of 16.

Wu is in the tournament for the third time in her career and has grown accustomed to facing some of the best players in the nation.

As a freshman in 2009, Wu faced Georgia Tech’s Amanda McDowell, who was the defending champion. Wu lost that first round match, 6-3, 6-2.

The next year, Wu faced the top seed in the tournament, Georgia Tech’s Irina Falconi. Wu dropped that opening round match, 6-4, 6-1.

The tournament runs through Monday, May 28.
