Wrapping Up at ITA Regionals

Commodores put a cap on main draw competition at ITA Regionals

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Sophomore Jeremie Casabon and junior Joubert Klopper each competed in singles and fell just short of the semifinals for the Vanderbilt men’s tennis team at the ITA Ohio Valley Regionals on Sunday.

Klopper reached the quarterfinals against 13th-ranked Gabriel Diallo of Kentucky. Klopper battled in the first set, but fell 7-5, and finished the tournament just short of the semifinals with a 6-2 defeat in the second set.

Casabon’s tournament run also came to an end in the quarterfinals. He fell 6-1, 6-0 on Saturday morning against Shunsuke Mitsui, who was competing on his home court for the University of Tennessee.

Next up, the Commodores will compete at the ITA All-American Championships, in which George Harwell, Max Freeman and Marcus Ferreira were selected to compete. The ITA All-American Championships will be hosted by the University of Tulsa on Oct. 4-10. A full Fall schedule is here.
