Vanderbilt Finishes Day One of Clemson Bob Pollock Invite

DAY ONE RESULTS

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Vanderbilt track and field team closed out the first day of the Clemson Bob Pollock Invite Friday night. The freshmen continued a trend of strong showings.
 
Freshman Jordan Smith opened the meet for the Dores with a 300-meter dash time of 40.75. The mark is the fifth-best in Vanderbilt history.
 
Freshman Taiya Shelby clocked a 57.06 in the 400-meter dash to place fourth in a field of 26. Regan Clay finished with a time of 59.17.
 
Kristen Denk and Margaret Ollinger took second and third in pole vault in a field of 17. The pair had marks of 13-5.25 and 12-11.25, respectively. Caleigh Lofstead came in eighth with a mark of 11-11.75.
 
In the one mile run Ana Wallace clocked 5:10.31, Kacie Breeding finished at 5:12.44 and Jacqueline Pinon ran a 5:14.88.
 
The Commodores will continue competition tomorrow beginning with the 600-meter run at 12 p.m. Vanderbilt will close its part in the event in the 200-meter dash at 12:45 p.m.
