NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Numerous personal-bests led the Vanderbilt track and field team on day one of the Black and Gold Invitational at the Vanderbilt Track.
Freshman Grace Jensen was the highlight of the day for the Commodores, posting a personal-best 4:26.30 in the 1,500 meters to take first in a field of 76. Reagan Bustamante also placed inside the top-10 taking sixth in 4:27.62.
Vanderbilt boasted eight other student-athletes clocking personal-bests in the event: Haley Walker (4:32.96), Ana Wallace (4:47.75), Gillian Mortimer (4:46.51), Anna Grace Morgan (4:39.17), Caroline Pietrzyk (4:38.46), Lauren Moffett (4:36.50) and Nick Laning (3:54.56).
Kendall Derry (4:37.77), Ginger Hutton (4:37.53), Kacie Breeding (4:48.74) and Devon Grisbaum (5:06.87) also completed the run.
Regan Clay and Taiya Shelby opened the meet for Vanderbilt in the 200 meters. Freshman Shelby clocked a personal-best 24.61 while Clay ran a 24.80.
A pair of Commodore men competed in the 5,000 meters and set personal-bests. Evan Suzman clocked a 15:15.38 to finish 10th in a field of 26 and Caleb Casolaro finished with a 15:17.53.
