FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. —Vanderbilt high jumper Brionne Williams earned second team All-America honors with a 15th place finish at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Williams cleared 1.78 meters (5′ 10″) to place 15th. She was unable to clear 1.81 meters. Arizona’s Brigetta Barret won the individual title, clearing 1.95 meters (6′ 4.75″).

For Williams, the season was a breakthrough year that saw her post a career-best jump of 1.83 meters (6′) at the Indiana Relays to be among the top-16 in the nation and qualify for the NCAA meet.

“I’m so proud of Brionne this indoor season,” said Vanderbilt assistant coach Clark Humphreys. “She continues to be a model of consistency for this program. We can’t wait for outdoors.”

Williams becomes Vanderbilt’s first indoor All-American since Josie Hahn placed sixth in the pentathlon in 2005.
