White named Academic All-District

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt cross country/track and field athlete Jordan White has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District 3 Team. The selections were announced on Thursday, May 31, by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

White has posted a 3.89 grade-point average while majoring in Medicine, Health and Society. She earned her undergraduate degree earlier this month and will being working on a graduate degree in Nursing at Vanderbilt while using her final year of athletic eligibility.

The Old Chatham, N.Y., native sports the highest cumulative GPA of any Vanderbilt student-athlete and is a four-time U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic honoree.

During cross country season, White placed seventh at the fall’s SEC Cross Country Championships while helping Vanderbilt to the team title. She then helped the Commodores to a sixth place finish at the NCAA Championships.

The indoor track season saw her place fifth at the SEC Indoor Championships in the 3,000 meters, while also helping the distance medley relay team finish fourth. At points during the indoor season, she held the school record in the mile and the 3,000 meters.

White’s outdoor seasons saw her earn another top-10 at SECs, placing 10th in the 5,000 meters.

White is joined on the District 3 team by Sarah Brobeck (Wake Forest), Anna Corriagn (Virginia), Frances Dowd (Virginia Tech), Linda Hadfield (Tennessee), Ashely Lehman (Lipscomb), Chanelle Price (Tennessee), Ashley Schnell (UNC-Greensboro), Carrie Wortham (VMI) and Ellen Wortham (Tennessee). District 3 is comprised of schools in Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia.

The honorees from the eight All-District teams now move on to the Academic All-America ballot, which will be voted on in June by CoSIDA members and its Board of Directors. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-Americans will be selected.
