NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt sophomore Haley Walker will be headed to San Jose, Costa Rica, from July 19-21 to represent Canada in the Pan American U20 Championships at National Stadium.
Walker was one of just 25 women from Canada to earn the honor. The Toronto native will join one other woman representing the country in the 800 meters. The field will feature athletes from 31 different countries.
“The U-20 Pan Ams has been a goal of mine since last summer, so I am very excited for the opportunity,” said Walker. “I am so proud to represent Canada and I intend to get as much as I can out of this race experience. I’d like to thank my incredibly supportive teammates and coaches who helped push me to achieve the time standard.”
Walker was a participant in the 800 meters for Canada at last year’s World Junior Championships in Finland.
“I know she’s excited to put on the national singlet again and represent Canada at another international meet,” said Vanderbilt head coach Steven Keith. “These are great experiences and will go a long way in Haley’s development.”
