VU ranked in preseason Coaches' poll

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s women’s basketball team will begin the 2010-11 season ranked in the AP and USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ Polls. Five days after being ranked No. 24 in the AP Poll, the Commodores were ranked No. 21 in the preseason USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ Poll, which was released on Wednesday.

The Commodores closed the 2009-10 season ranked No. 24 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches’ Poll and are one of four teams from the SEC that are ranked in the preseason poll.

UConn is ranked No. 1 in the poll and is followed by Baylor and Stanford who are tied for second. Tennessee is the top ranked team in the SEC, checking in at No. 4. Kentucky is ranked No. 10 and Georgia is ranked No. 19.

The Commodores open exhibition season at 7 p.m. Thursday against Delta State.
