VANDERBILT RE-VU
Vanderbilt split a Saturday doubleheader at Georgia to claim the Commodores’ fifth series of the season. Vandy used three-hit games from Jason Delay and Julian Infante, who also drove in three runs, to clinch the series with a 10-5 win. Kyle Wright’s seven scoreless innings were wasted in a 1-0 loss in the first game of the double dip. Matt Ruppenthal was pinned with the loss after allowing a solo homer in the eighth. The Commodores opened the series at Georgia with an 8-1 win behind Patrick Raby. The right-hander turned in his first career complete game to pick up the win. Vanderbilt blasted Middle Tennessee on Tuesday night at Murfreesboro 21-2. Reed Hayes drove in a career-best six runs with a career-best four hits before striking out the side in the ninth.

TAKING ON TENNESSEE
Vanderbilt welcomes Tennessee to Hawkins Field this weekend as the first of back-to-back home weekend series for the Commodores. VU dropped two-of-three at Tennessee last year after winning the opener 6-0 behind Jordan Sheffield’s eight scoreless innings. The Dores dropped the series with 2-1 and 5-3 losses the next two days. Vandy took two-of-three from the Volunteers the last time the two teams met at The Hawk in 2015. Carson Fulmer shut out UT on Friday night and VU won the series on Sunday 14-3 with Zander Wiel driving in four runs with four hits. Vanderbilt is 161-160-3 against Tennessee all-time dating back to a 9-6 win in 1888.
TAKE A WALK
Will Toffey enters the weekend leading the Southeastern Conference with 41 walks. The junior’s patience at the plate has been impressive with Toffey working at least one walk in 26 of his 40 games this season and multiple walks in 11 games, including four games with three walks. Toffey has already walked 126 times in his career and is closing in on his total of 51 from last year, which sits as the sixth-most in Vanderbilt history in a single-season. Vee Hightower holds the Vandy single-season record with 63 free rides in 1993.
FEWER FREEBIES
Vanderbilt’s pitching staff has issued fewer free passes over the team’s last four games after issuing a season-high 11 in a loss to Florida on April 15. The Commodores have walked just seven batters over the last 35 innings. Chandler Day started two of the four games last week and walked no one over 7.1 innings while Patrick Raby walked just one Georgia batter in a complete game victory last Friday.
RBI MACHINE
Julian Infante has been a run-producing machine over the last five games for the Commodores, driving in 10 runs and scoring seven more. He matched his career-best with four RBIs in the Dores’ blowout win at Middle Tennessee last week with his first career grand slam. He is 8-for-21 (.381) with two home runs and two doubles during the stretch.
GAME TIME CHANGES
Vanderbilt’s baseball schedule has two game time changes coming over the next few weeks. Tuesday’s game at Hawkins Field against Austin Peay has been moved back to 7 p.m. The Commodores’ opening game of the series at Arkansas on May 12 has been selected by the SEC Network and moved up to a 6 p.m. start at Baum Stadium.
