First Round Results

SUGAR GROVE, Ill. – Inclement weather and rainy conditions kept the Commodores from finishing their first round on Friday, but it did not keep Vanderbilt from holding the first-day lead at eight-under par at the NCAA Championship at Rich Harvest Farm Golf Club, two shots ahead of second-place Auburn, who completed their first round in the morning wave.

Weather was delayed for over three hours Friday afternoon at Rich Harvest Farms due to lightning and very heavy rains, but the Commodores still ended their day with 19 birdies as a team. Junior Theo Humphrey and sophomore Will Gordon led the way with five apiece, with senior Matthias Schwab and sophomore Patrick Martin each adding four birdies in their rounds.

Schwab led the Commodores with a bogey-free, four-under total through 15 holes. Humphrey is two-under par through 15 holes, while Martin and Gordon are one-under in their rounds, with Martin through 15 and Gordon through 16, respectively. Freshman John Augenstein completed his round on Friday with a three-over par, 75. Schwab is tied for third on the individual leader board, with Humphrey in a tie for 13th and Martin and Gordon in a tie for 24th.

Vanderbilt will complete their round at 6:30 a.m. CT on Saturday morning, and then begin their second round at 7:15 a.m. off of the number one tee.
