WINDERMERE, Fla. – The Vanderbilt men’s golf team finished one of the nation’s premiere collegiate tournaments, the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational, in a tie for eighth place with a final total score of 899 (303-294-302), with sophomore Hunter Stewart leading the way with a total of 220 (78-71-71, T16). This week’s tournament featured seven of the top 15 teams in America.

“Obviously, Hunter continues to play really well for us,” said Vanderbilt head coach Scott Limbaugh. “He carried us today and one-under was really good on this course under these conditions.”

The Commodores tied LSU, ranked 13th in the country, for eighth place in the tournament. Number one-ranked California led wire-to-wire to claim the team championship with an 868 (284-295-289), while the Bears’ Michael Kim won medalist honors with a four-under par, 212.

Besides Stewart’s 16th place finish, sophomore Jordan Janico was next with a 224 total (74-73-77), which was good for a tie for 28th. Other scores for the Commodores were sophomore Ben Fogler’s 228 (74-77-77, T-44), junior Charlie Ewing’s 230 (77-75-78, T-52), and freshman Zack Jaworksi’s 233 (81-75-77, T-60).

“I’m proud of our entire team,” said Limbaugh. “They remain resilient and fight for every shot. We have a lot of improvement to do before our last event of the fall and we need to continue to focus every day on getting better. But, overall, it was a good week.”

Vanderbilt’s last fall tournament of the season is November 5-6 at the ASU Fall Beach Classic in Gulf Shores, Ala.
