FAYETTVILLE, Ark. – In the final meet before the SEC Championships, the Vanderbilt track team continued the season trend of setting new personal records at the Tyson Invitational at the Randal Tyson Track Center this weekend.

In the distance events, the Commodores posted several top-10 finishes. In the one mile run, Rita Jorgensen clocked a time of 4:51.95 in the invitational race, good for eighth place, while Liz Anderson finished in fifth place in the open race with a time of 4:57.90. Louise Hannallah and Allie Scalf posted times of 9:41.67 and 9:58.75, respectively, in the 3000 meter invitational. In the 3000 meter open race, Adrienne DiRaddo finished fourth at 10:04.30 and Megan Yohe crossed the finish line in 10:16.46.

“Overall, it was a very solid meet for the distance crew,” said distance coach Steve Keith. “Louise ran a 10 second PR and raced very well. Our goal (in the 3000 meter) was sub-9:45, so she was well below that.”

Kristen Findley clocked a 2:20.69 in the 800m run. The distance medley relay team of Jorgensen, Anderson, Findley and Teegan Hill finished fourth with a time of 11:48.19.

“Considering out late arrival on Thursday after driving over 12 hours in the ice and snow, I thought our team responded very well,” said Keith. “These two days have been great prep for the SEC meet in two weeks.”

In the high jump, freshman Ellie Tidman improved on her height from last week, finishing second at 1.73m (5’8″). Brionne Williams cleared a height of 1.68m (5’6″). Katherine Hendricks and Morgan Toone both cleared 3.60m (11’9 ¾”) in the pole vault.

The sprinters also improved on their times set last weekend. In the 60m dash, Anna Carr Hawkins clocked in at 7.72 seconds and Taylor Jackson posted a time of 7.82 seconds, both improvements from last week. Hawkins and Jackson also competed in the 200m dash, posting times of 24.88 seconds and 25.48 seconds, respectively.

The Commodores return to Fayetteville in two weeks for the SEC Indoor Championships.
