Vandy Sweeps MTSU in Nonconference Finale

Dores begin SEC play on Friday

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team defeated Midstate opponent Middle Tennessee State University 7-0 and are heading into SEC play with a 6-3 record.

For the first time this season, Amy Stevens and Holly Staff were paired; they were the first duo to win in doubles, putting the Dores within one to clinch the doubles point. Celia-Belle Mohr and Marcella Cruz solidified the team lead by one with their victory on Court 1.

In singles, the Dores dominated quick and early. Bridget Stammel finished first with her 6-0, 6-1 victory on Court 3. Shortly after, Mohr wrapped up on Court 1, defeating MTSU’s Love-Star Alexis 6-1, 6-0. Dasha Kourkina won the match for Vandy on Court 6.

The Commodores finished the rest of the singles matches with wins from Staff, Cruz and Stevens.
