Team Record and Series Notes:

  • This is the 115th year of Vanderbilt basketball, with the first season taking place in 1900-01. There were no teams in 1904-05 and 1905-06.
  • USC improves to 5-1 all-time against the Commodores after the win. It was the first time the two programs had met since 1975.
  • This was the first time head coach Bryce Drew had faced USC in his career.

Team Notes:

  • Tonight was Vanderbilt’s 1,003rd straight game with a three-point field goal. The Commodores are just one of three schools to have made a three-point basket in every game since the inception of the three-point line in the 1986-87 season. The others are Princeton and UNLV.
  • The Commodores started Saben Lee, Riley LaChance, Matthew Fisher-Davis, Jeff Roberson and Ejike Obinna for the second straight game.
  • The Commodores shot 11-for-23 (47.8%) from three against USC. It was the first game they hit 10 or more threes this season after achieving that feat 18 times last year.
  • The Dores shot 71.4 percent (20-28) from the free throw line. It was their third straight game shooting over 70 percent from the line.
  • It was the second game this season they made 20 or more free throws.
  • Vanderbilt corralled 38 rebounds, one shy of their season-high against Belmont. It was the second game this year they out-rebounded their opponent (38-28).
  • Vanderbilt moves to 62-60 all-time in overtime games after the loss. They won their only overtime game last season in the SEC Tournament against Florida.
  • The Dores tallied double-digit assists for the third game this season after having 14 against USC.

Player Notes:

  • Matthew Fisher-Davis scored a season-high 31 points in the loss and tied a career-high 11 rebounds in the loss.
  • It was his second career double-double and the third double-double by a Commodore this year.
  • It was the first time a Vanderbilt player scored 30 or more points since Fisher-Davis set his career high of 33 against Auburn on January 4, 2017.
  • Larry Austin posted a career-high 13 points and six assists. Both of those records were set against DePaul on January 30, 2016 while he was at Xavier.
  • Riley LaChance scored in double figures for the fourth straight game after totaling 19 points against USC.
  • Djery Baptiste set a career-high after shooting 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
