Vanderbilt to Retire Foster's No. 32

Former Vandy basketball star to be honored Feb. 5

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Shan Foster’s No. 32 jersey will officially hang from the Memorial Gymnasium rafters beginning Feb. 5.

At halftime of Vanderbilt’s 5 p.m. matchup with LSU that day, Vanderbilt Athletics will honor the former Vandy great with a jersey retirement ceremony.

Foster is Vanderbilt’s all-time leader in points (2,011) and 3s made (367) and holds the Southeastern Conference record for consecutive games (34) with a 3-pointer made. He as an Associated Press All-American in 2007-08 and was a second-round pick of the Dallas Mavericks in the 2008 NBA Draft.

Originally from Laurel, Mississippi, Foster scored 42 points in a game against Mississippi State. He was named the 2008 SEC Player of the Year.

Foster is the fifth former Vanderbilt basketball player to have his jersey number retired joining Clyde Lee (1962-66), Perry Wallace (1966-70), Wendy Scholtens (1986-90) and Chantelle Anderson (1999-03).
