Vanderbilt T&F Spring Classic Saturday 3/17/2005 First Outdoor Meet of 2005 Season Nashville, Tenn. – Track and field athletes representing five Tennessee universities and six Midwestern schools are expected to compete in the Vanderbilt Spring Classic this Saturday on campus. More than 20 members of the Vanderbilt women’s track and field squad also are expected to participate in the meet. The meet is the Commodores’ first scheduled outdoor competition in a busy on-campus campaign that includes the Vanderbilt Invitational in April and the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships on May 12-15. The first running event is scheduled for 11:30 a.m., with the 5,000-meter run. The first field events, the men’s high jump and women’s triple jump, also are scheduled to begin just before noon. The competition is scheduled to conclude by 5 p.m. Four other universities located in Tennessee – Belmont and Fisk in Nashville, Austin Peay in Clarksville and the University of the South in Sewanee – will be represented at the meet. Also competing are Grand Valley (Mich.) State, Huntington (Ind.) College, Illinois State University, Macalester (Minn.) College, Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) University and Wisconsin-Parkside University. The following student-athletes from Vanderbilt’s women’s squad are scheduled to compete: Shawnette Adams, triple jump; Latisha Bryant, Josie Hahn and Amanda Mullins-Hall, 400-meter hurdles; Debbie Huss, Lauren Pence and Julie Eckerly, 5,000-meter run; Paige Roberts and Laura Miller, pole vault; Brittany Sizer, Caitlin Shannon, Whitney Thurman and Ella Wilhoit, 1,500-meter run; Garnetta Holloway, high jump and javelin; Stephanie Tiedemann, high jump; Nadiyah Humber, Sarah Feagles and Anna-Laura Morgan, 800-meter run; Andrea Rosemond and Jenn Sims, 100-meter dash; Amani Floyd, 200-meter dash; Kasi Foster, hammer, discus and shot put; Sydney Faulkner, long jump; and Anjarae Washington, high jump and 110-meter hurdles.
