Vanderbilt Track & Field will kick off its season on Saturday by hosting the Vanderbilt Indoor Opener. This will mark the fifth straight year that Vanderbilt has hosted a meet on the first weekend of December, dating back to Dec. 3, 2013, which was the inaugural event hosted at the new Vanderbilt Multipurpose Facility.
The Commodores will welcome 16 other schools to their home track on Saturday, including seven other universities from Tennessee. Here is a full list of teams scheduled to compete:

11:00 AM Long Jump – Sophia Falco
2:00 PM Pole Vault – Sarah Bell, Kristen Denk, Caleigh Lofstead and Margaret Ollinger
Running Events
1:25 PM 60 Meters – Sophia Falco
2:00 PM Mile Run – Reagan Bustamante, Becca Schulte, Ginger Hutton and Kacie Breeding
2:30 PM 400 Meters – Regan Clay
3:20 PM 800 Meters – Jenn Edobi, Lydia Witty, Kendall Derry and Ginger Hutton
4:30 PM 3000 Meters – Mailin Struck and Reagan Anderson
5:10 PM 4×400 Meters – Regan Clay, Jenn Edobi, Becca Schulte and Lydia Witty

The Commodores are coming off a season in which the team had three NCAA First Team All-Americans, including pole vaulter Sarah Bell (Outdoor), sprinter Courtney Clayton (Outdoor) and triple jumper Simone Charley (Indoor), all of whom return to compete for . Clayton and Bell became the first Commodore duo to take home First Team Outdoor All-American honors in the same season since 2004, when VU hall-of-famer Josie Reynolds and Erika Schneble accomplished the feat. Caleigh Lofstead also earned All-SEC Freshman team honors during the 2017 outdoor season en route to NCAA Regional qualification, where she was joined by teammates Bell, Clayton, Regan Bustamante and Jenn Edobi.
