PHILADELPHIA, Penn. – Two Vanderbilt distance runners competed at the 2010 Penn Relays on Thursday, held at the University of Pennsylvania.

Sophomores Louise Hannallah and Alexa Rogers competed in the 5,000 meter run in the College Women and Olympic Development divisions, respectively.

Hannallah ran a season high 16:59.24 in her race, finishing 22nd and beating her previous season high by over three seconds. She also beat her 5k time from last year’s Penn Relays by over thirty seconds.

Rogers finished 23rd in her race, running her way to a 17:29.49 finish in her first time competing in the famed Penn Relays.

“There were good efforts, but even better experience in the big-race atmosphere. We’re still learning and these races will go a long way,” distances coach Steve Keith noted.

“With a couple more weeks we can focus on finals and then a nice push toward some big efforts at SEC.”
