Vanderbilt hosts Ivies this weekend

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team return home this weekend to take on two teams from the Ivy League. On Saturday, the Commodores host Yale, followed by Princeton on Sunday. Both matches begin at noon.

The Commodores enter the weekend with a 2-1 record after falling to Clemson in the championship match of the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. Vanderbilt opened the season two weeks ago with a victory over then ranked No. 9 Northwestern.

Yale, ranked No. 41 in the nation, holds a 4-1 record, which includes victories over Buffalo, Boston College, Boston University and Utah. Sophomore Elizabeth Epstein entered the dual season ranked No. 65 in singles. Last season, Vanderbilt topped Yale, 6-1, in New Haven, Conn.

Princeton is 1-2 heading into this weekend. Last weekend, the Tigers were swept by Florida State and Texas in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend last week. Last year, Princeton defeated Vanderbilt 4-3 on their campus in Princeton, N.J.

Approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the Vanderbilt vs. Yale match on Saturday, Princeton will face Memphis at the Currey Tennis Center.
