Commodore Notes
The Commodores won a midweek game at Louisville before losing two-of-three to then eighth-ranked Florida over the weekend… The series loss to the Gators drops VU into a three-way tie atop the Southeastern Conference with Florida and South Carolina… Vanderbilt opened the week with a 5-1 win at Louisville using a pair of two-run homers to beat the Cardinals… Connor Harrell and Curt Casli each hit two-run homers in the win… Kevin Ziomek picked up his second win of the year working three scoreless innings… The Dores welcomed Florida to Hawkins Field on Friday night but the game was suspended in the middle of the sixth inning due to rain with VU leading 4-2… In the resumption of Friday night’s game the Gators rallied for two runs in the top of the ninth to stun the Commodores 6-5 and claim game one of the series… Conrad Gregor paced the offense with three hits and Jason Esposito drove in two runs… Vandy quickly responded in Saturday’s scheduled game pounding Florida 14-1… The Dores cranked out 18 hits en route to victory led by Esposito and Harrell’s three hits each… Aaron Westlake’s grand slam in the fifth inning broke the game open and capped a six-run rally, Westlake finished the day with a career-best five RBI… Grayson Garvin earned his 11th win of the year to move into a tie with David Price for the second-most wins in a single season by a Commodore… The Gators outlasted the Dores on Sunday in 12 innings to win 6-3… Vanderbilt had runners in scoring position with less than two outs in the ninth, 10th and 11th innings but failed to score… The loss was just the fourth home loss of the year for Vandy and the series loss was the second of the season and first at home… Curt Casali led the Commodores going 3-for-5 with his fourth home run of the year.
