NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s track and field received academic team recognition, while Kristen Denk, Margaret Ollinger and Taiya Shelby earned individual academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as announced Thursday.
As a program, the Commodores finished with a 3.667 GPA which ranked second in the SEC. Denk (marketing), Ollinger (economics) and Shelby (economics and medicine, health and society) all qualified for individual accolades with a GPA above 3.25 and a top 96 national ranking.
Shelby ranked among the nation’s best in the 400 meters (54.22), while Denk (4.05 meters/13-03.50 feet) and Ollinger (4.03 meters/13-02-50 feet) were among the top pole vaulters in the country.
