FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Vanderbilt distance corps completed a strong showing at the Tyson Invitational, highlighted by Alexa Rogers and Louise Hannallah’s respective efforts in the 3000 meter run.
Hannallah ran a time of 9:51.44, good for 12th in the 3000 meter run invitational. Rogers finished 5th in the 3000 meter run with a time of 9:59.46.
“This effort by Louise was a solid step up for her,” distances coach Steve Keith commented. “It should help quite a bit when she gets into a similar race at the SEC meet in two weeks.”
Also competing in the 3000 meter run for the Commodores were junior Adrienne DiRaddo (10:20.25–14th place) and freshman Allie Scalf (10:33.49–20th place).
“(It was) great to get out on the banked 200 meter track that will host the SEC Championship,” noted Keith. “The women competed hard and we’ll come back in two weeks with even more incentive and purpose.”
AMES, Ia. – The Vanderbilt sprinting unit had a strong outing, underscored by sophomore Teegan Hill’s finish in the 400 meter dash. In the non-seeded section of the 400 meter dash, Hill sprinted her way to 5th place with a time of 57.37.
Sophomore Anna Carr narrowly missed the 60 meter dash finals by two-hundredths of a second, finishing 17th in the preliminaries with a time of 7.73.
“Both Teegan and Anna did a great job this weekend,” head coach D’Andre Hill said. “Teegan ran her season high (in the 400) and executed the race well. Anna also finished (the 60 meter dash) with a season high.”
The Commodores have next weekend off in preparation for the SEC Indoor Championships. Vanderbilt will be returning to familiar territory, as the University of Arkansas will host the Indoor Championships. VU has spent half of the indoor season competing in Fayetteville.
“We look forward to the next two weeks of training and are hoping for season highs and personal bests at the SEC Championships,” Hill commented.
The SEC Indoor Championships begin on Friday, Feb. 26 and run through Sunday, Feb. 28.
